Ropes Course

As freshmen in ALA, we take a field trip to Saluda Shoals park where we took part in several team building activities. For example, we all stood on a large sea-saw type of device that we had to balance for a certain amount of time. We had to move to different spots on the board in small, slight steps so as not to upset the whole thing. This took a lot of communication and cooperation among team members. Another activity that we did involved standing on a raised log and organizing oursevles by birthday. Not only was this difficult to stand on, we weren't allowed to talk. We had to use hand motions and find creative ways to switch places with people. These activities taught me a lot about the importance of teamwork and cooperation among team members. We all had to work together to be successful, and this carries over to the classroom. In a project or assignment where we have to work together, we have to keep calm and communicate effectively to be successful.
